Year of Beer Paintings – Day 106

The beer painting of the day is Between the Staves, a collaboration brew by Anchorage Brewing Company and Crooked Stave Brewery in Denver, Colorado.  Gabe Fletcher teamed up with Chad Yakobson to produce this wild American ale. This beer is so uniquely sour I can only think of green pineapple flavor mixed with a Belgian geuze.  I had the opportunity to hear both brewers speak about their brewing process, cool ships and the Brettanomyces living in the wooden slats of their fermenters and aging casks.  I found this brew to be really refreshing and I would drink it all the time, however if you are not into sour flavors and unique yeast flavor, you could turn over a new leaf, and develop a palette for this tart brew.

To collaboration brews, and to the brewers who are true artists and masters of their craft!  I applaud their avant-garde beer, and wish them success beyond their wildest (yeast) dreams!

The original painting sold. You can purchase a limited-edition print at my Etsy shop.
