Year of Beer Paintings – Day 122

The daily beer painting is of Deschutes Brewing Company’s Hop Henge Experimental IPA.  This beer has been a favorite of mine as long as Deschutes has been brewing it.  It was originally named Imperial IPA when it first came out in January 2007, then the name was changed in 2009 to Experimental IPA when the brewers started using different hops.  Heavy on the Centennial and Cascade hops, this beer comes in with serious bitterness at 99 IBUs.  Also, hold onto your hats!  An 8.8% alcohol content means don’t use your chainsaw or any other power tools after imbibing this particular brew.  And 504 calories per 22 oz serving means you better hit the gym, or at least a pre-beer run.  I have to run for 5 miles to burn off that many beer calories!

Cheers to Deschutes, one of my favorite breweries!  Bend, Oregon how many breweries do you need?!  Last time I checked you had one brewery per 10,000 people and new breweries were springing up left and right!  Way to go! Leading the pack of some of the best beer in the world!

The original painting sold. You can purchase a limited-edition print at my Etsy shop.
