Year of Beer Paintings – Day 277

The featured beer painting of the day is of Coney Island Lager by Shmaltz Brewing Company in Saratoga Springs, NY.  May the Shmaltz be with you, as many Jewish people fast today, celebrating the biggest holiday of the year, Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement.  Yom Kippur ends tonight, and I suggest having a Coney Island Lager with your meal, as you finally eat again after 25 hours of fasting.  Your sins will be forgiven, and you’ll have a clean slate, so better start with small pleasures like drinking beer with dinner.

I am getting really excited about my trip East, and plan to visit Coney Island for the first time to see the amusement parks of the roaring 20’s, and the beach scene.  Since I have Russian ties in my family, I’ll have to stop at Brighton Beach, and test out my pathetic Russian skills. Hopefully I can sample some authentic Russian food.  Probably sipping on a delicious Shmaltz brew while I’m at it.

Good job on the Coney Island Lager, Shmaltz Brewing! I could tell it was well crafted when I cracked the bottle. A nice aroma passed my nose, and I could tell immediately that this beer was alive and fresh.  The amber color was beautiful, and the cold-fermented yeast reminded me of a Vienna style lager more than a pilsner.  A very fruity, delicious beer that tastes best when served at 45 degrees not 33, like the standard American lager.

Cheers to Shmaltz Brewing, and the spirit of Coney Island!

The original painting sold. You can purchase a limited-edition print, or order a custom beer painting at my Etsy shop.
