The beer painting of the day is of Hopslam Ale by Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo Michigan. Wow, is all I can say! I know that we have fantastic beer here in Alaska, but Michigan is definitely a destination I have in mind for the near future. Bell’s Brewery is a place you only hear about here in Alaska and I can only imagine a place that makes a colossal beer like Hopslam. Those little feet sticking out of the massive hop on the label are mine right now.
My favorite part of this brew was not the amazing amount of hops, but the awesome choice in adjunct sugar — honey, one of my favorite fermentables. I noticed it right away. One of the beers I brew is the Drippy Hippy, a flavorful gingered honey ale. I have also made several batches of mead, and want to raise bees in the future during the Alaskan summers. I love honey in beer. A braggat is a combination of honeywine and ale, and whenever you brew one you can brag-gat about it.
Cheers to the Hopslam… dunk! I hope you start distributing worldwide, Bell’s Brewery, as your beer is world class!
